2 x glass sliding door within one single wall...

3725 Is silicone the way to attach the rubber to the wooden frames around the "decoupled" sliding door? I have no idea about how effective, acoustically speaking, silicon is. From my experience I would use acoustic caulk instead of silicon. Hi SL, nah, this is about a room in my apartment...

2 x glass sliding door within one single wall...

So, with one sliding door at 6.38mm lam and the other at 10.38 lam, if I had 100mm between the glazing, I'd still have both door frames connected to the same single wall. Is it possible, or even worth the trouble, to attempt to decouple the second sliding door by inserting a rubber barrier strip all...

green glue between acrylic glass and laminated glass

3140 I don't have a complete picture of what you are trying to achieve but from what I imagine, I would think sandwiching the MLV between the borders and door, secured by a series of screws going through the border into the wooden part of the door would be sufficient. In my general experience of DI...

green glue between acrylic glass and laminated glass

3136 Greetings Jennifer, Would it not be sufficient to attach it to the small top and bottom borders you mention? My concern would be the stress from the weight of the MLV on the top border (If it is a trim piece). All the best, Paul I'm not sure what you mean, are you saying that silicone along th...

green glue between acrylic glass and laminated glass

3130 I found this on the green glue website a while back; The Compound is used between two layers of building materials – typically drywall, OSB, MDF, cement board, or plywood, each at least 1/2 inch (12 mm) thick. One of the layers of which must allow moisture to pass through. From memory, Stuart ...

green glue between acrylic glass and laminated glass

Stuart will remember me as the guy building a studio on the 7th floor of an office building. If the soundproofing doesn't work as well as hoped, I will just do loud recordings (drums) after hours, so please don't warn me against the idea, I'm OK with it. I'm finally getting my permits to begin, with...

... also, I have some questions about his idea of having a "double decker" floating floor (one on top of the other). He claims that loud drums will be attenuated sufficiently through 2 floating systems, each around 60mm insul filled gap with 19mmm and 25mm particle board on rubber mounts. ...

Well, if you ever put a book together, I'm sure it will surpass most of the existing ones out there. It certainly won't be lacking any details! 8-). Another excellent and much appreciated post. (I sent you a PM btw...)

He said he'd get back to me with some local places to check out that he has designed. Hopefully a studio on an upper level that manages to keep drums and bass amps out of their lower neighbour's earshot... As regards to your issues with the CR design, I'm aware of the many problems the east facing C...

Hey, thanks for the response Stuart. Actually. before I respond to your questions, while it's fresh, I'd like to share with you if I may, a rather extraordinary meeting I had yesterday with someone you may be aware of. I won't mention his name here (perhaps in a PM?), but suffice to say he is one of...

Site-built window pair, for high isolation.

1423 Hey there Killer Joe – In your drawing you have an “External Glass Façade”. Are these windows to the outside of your building? That will bring in light from the outdoors? I am planning the same thing ! What is your “External Glass Façade” ? I am in Texas and the architect was saying that the e...

.... or would this work just as well? Studio Window Detail.png Would these gaps (120mm and 150 mm) create a 3 leaf affect ? Which resonances? How would this window compare TL wise to the rest of the wall? If this window won't suffice, what would? Is there any way I can use all my 10mm lam glass to c...

Site-built window pair, for high isolation.

Well, the walls will be 80kg/m2, so the window and doors need to be commensurate. How about 3 (loose) panes touching each other? What's the worst that can happen? Or even more controversially, with tiny gaps in between them (1 - 2 mm). Yes, I know that triple and quadriple leaf can compound resonanc...

Was the glass laminated together on site? I thought it was a heat process that can only be done at the glazier's factory?... I have plenty of 10mm glass that I'd love to put together back to back to create 20, or even 30mm thickness. Can I just push them together without anything in between, or is t...
