the open broadcast system (OBS) is free software and many folks use it for live and editing. (although diVinci Resolve - also free -- is a better editor). you'd probably find lots of info on how to set up the video system with multiple cameras etc. my understanding for multiple cameras which are not...

for structure - get a mechanics stethoscope. usually not expensive and allows you to pinpoint sound via it's contact tip.

nope - reasonable. the idea is to have the baffle plate mass and damping sufficient that it only has minimal resonance and thus vibration. as the speaker itself is disconnected, then you're primarily dealing with the air borne acoustic energy as the primary source into the structure. the baffle plat...

one strategy for this is to build a turnbuckle system to compress the speaker onto the isolation pads - this ensureS the speaker is properly compressing the pads for best resonance setting and the top pads in combination form the strong friction fit to keep it stable. the turnbuckles in addition to ...

yes i was one of three designers on that project plus the construction consultant. the units on either side of the wall are acoustic treatments which are basically a set of damped and undamped triangles on a box. there is a matching set on either side of the seating dais as well. the large windows (...

yes, extending it to the room and tapping off it should work fine.
the speakers are designed to be on stands, not soffit mounted so they are going to work nicely in the way, and you can readily adjust the rolloff etc to accommodate most positions for them.

on the window size & acoustics - it's a solid reflective surface. even angled. and it's just one of many trade-offs to make. i've done large studios (like Red Bull NYC) with huge glass walls - and some things are compromises because of other requirements (e.g. visually stunning and great for PR ...

i'd probably go with #1 and replace the idea of the window with video monitors. this way you can fully complete acoustics and your not restricted on visual communications between the booth and the control room - i.e. basically you can have a moveable tv , or people can use their laptops etc to all s...

a few thoughts on this: mounting the speaker on an isolated pad within the speaker box - use some duct board to create the "back" and the vents top and bottom - from just above your air vent and to the edge with it meets the ceiling and baffle plate. this provides maximum venting. use a be...

that would be good, the effective speed will be around 150fpm or 2.5fps - which if you can expand again in the soffit, you would be in good shape for low velocity.

are you using the same mac for both your DAW and the video? if so, firstly i'd use a separate device to handle the video so you have that out of the way of the DAW processing (and vice versa). video and audio processing together on a single system can easily result in stalling / glitching behaviours.

why not have the CR with the mix desk facing the short wall, and a nice large window (or TV) on the side for interaction with the live room? in fact a large TV can be used in the front of the CR and another in the live room (where ever) and be almost the same as looking through a window. and if you ...
