Designing my future home studio

Thanks gullfo,

That's kinda what I'm doing at the moment and I don't like it. But this is probably to only/best compromise.
I'm will stick with the two (smaller) rooms approach for now as that seems to be the best choice considering all options.

Designing my future home studio

It has been a while since I last posted in this thread. I won't bother you with any details, but in short: we still don't have a house, and therefore no studio. The ongoing housing 'crisis' in the Netherlands, worsened by the absurd and unexplainable spatial planning policies by local governments di...

Designing my future home studio

6418 on the window size & acoustics - it's a solid reflective surface. even angled. and it's just one of many trade-offs to make. i've done large studios (like Red Bull NYC) with huge glass walls - and some things are compromises because of other requirements (e.g. visually stunning and great f...

Designing my future home studio

I've been trying to optimise design 'number 2' from earlier in this thread. Mostly as I feel this design comes closest to my requirements in my opening post and feels somewhat realistic in terms of available space. Here is an overview: Floor Plan.png One of the things I did, trying to improve this d...

Designing my future home studio

6425 Based on your responses, budget, and other considerations you presented, I would HIGHLY recommend considering a single room studio design. Here is why: Thanks for your recommendation. Your absolutely right about that a single room might seem to be more feasible at this point, and to be honest...

Designing my future home studio

6412 i'd probably go with #1 and replace the idea of the window with video monitors. this way you can fully complete acoustics and your not restricted on visual communications between the booth and the control room - i.e. basically you can have a moveable tv , or people can use their laptops etc to...

Designing my future home studio

Thank you Gullfo, for your replies. Most probably the 'studio' will be an attachment to the future house (both build from the ground-up). Building from 'the ground up' will (hopefully) avoid a lot of the problems you described. Nevertheless, I'm aware and counting on the fact that most probably the ...

Designing my future home studio

INTRODUCTION In my spare time I'm a drummer and a little bit of a pianist/keyboardist/composer. I like to practice/compose and record my own music and once in a while I'm working with other musicians on projects. For a long time I would like to have a room which is suitable for my musical hobby. At...

Stuart's Rules for Soffits / Flush mounting speakers

Wow, inspiring project and an extreme flat room response. I'm not planning on adding a subwoofer, but still: this is as good as it gets. Thank you for sharing!

Stuart's Rules for Soffits / Flush mounting speakers

Thanks Glenn and Stuart for your extensive replies! Things become a lot more clear on how the flush-mounting of monitors works from a practical point of view. Since last year I'm the owner of a pair of Focal Shape Twin's which I really like. Unfortunately those are not suitable for flush-mounting be...

Stuart's Rules for Soffits / Flush mounting speakers

6327 Hi there, PLG-88, and Welcome to the mad house! I mean forum! :) :thu: You sure can ask questions in the reference area, or anywhere else. In general it's better to start your own thread and post links referring back to the original post, but you can do it this way too. Thank you for the war...

Stuart's Rules for Soffits / Flush mounting speakers

Hi, I'm new here and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to ask questions in the reference area, but this relates to the topic and therefore might be useful for others who are gathering information on flush-mounting monitors as well. If this is not the right place to do so, please notify me. 3729 10) Make...
