Thanks! Of course I understand that directing the sound does require hard surfaces. That is why I mentioned PARTLY soft surfaces. In a 7.1 setup according to Atmos specs I just cannot see how you can create a zone free of first reflections while also having hard baffles in proper size at every speak...

Yes, absolutely. It is not going to be as professional as this design looks. But I hope to get a more even sound from all sides. So, is it doable to soffit mount monitors in a (partly) soft wall? I would be thrilled to hear more about it!
