Your photos show the opposite, that you are paying attention and doing it very well. I know it is hard work but bravo to you for being so diligent. Well done!

Glenn would say the pink stuff because it is less dense. You need to decide whether the Rockwool is soft and fluffy or more dense. I make the decision for myself as this: if it comes in a long roll it will be softer than if it comes in slabs. Does that make sense to you?

Have a look at endorka's drum riser in the topic Amp Riser Effectiveness. You need to understand page 1 which goes through the principles and then page 2 is where Jennifer starts on her drum riser.

The Rockwool looks to be correct, not stuffed (as in compressed), which will be fine. In soffits we want what gets called soft fluffy, which will be more useful in lower frequencies. It does not matter whether you use continuous lengths or scraps, just loosely fill the space. It looks good; keep goi...

Hello Marc. 1. You will want the duct openings far apart so that the extracting duct doesn't simply suck out the fresh air. In my studio, the duct nearest the camera has a partner hole further along the same duct and the other duct, carrying the fresh air, is routed to a plenum (not in the photo) wh...

Thanks for asking, Jennifer. I took a break through the winter of 2021-2022, after which President Putin started a war right next door, so helping Ukrainian refugees and delivering humanitarian aid alongside some post-covid musical opportunities opening up quickly filled the next year and a half. My...

That was impressive: a 2-way speaker from mostly scrap materials. Thanks for the link, Stuart.

Will you be using the same studio playout you had in January or are you starting over once you find the right building or plot of land?

5072 I will also have some small carpets so we can adjust the room that way as necessary. Scott, take care regarding carpets because they are only thick enough to trap higher frequencies. Gobos will dampen a broader range of frequencies, far better than a few small carpets. On the other hand, I fin...

I will echo Jennifer's congratulations as you persisted to see the studio through to its completion. Yes, a few photos and recording of the place being used would be the icing on the cake.

5007 A while back you had a drum kit in there and were going to see how much sound escaped into the rest of the building. How did it go? The drum kit is still in there. A short story will explain. During the first Covid lockdown in 2020 the shop next door closed down. Last year an undertaker set up...

4640 I will be taking a break from working on the studio as I need to get back to rehearsing after a long gap. I got a much appreciated PM from Gareth as I haven't posted any updates in a while. The shelving and couch are now in the studio as they have been cluttering up our lounge for the last 4 y...
