Private studio in Slovakia

Thanks for posting the detailed photos.

Essentially, you've made box springs as the ceiling tiles (and cloud parts), which, if you think about it, is designed to hold the weight of a mattress plus an adult, so your construction should be quite solid indeed.

Designing My Soffit Mounts

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant my parents' handyman would have NAILED the bottom plate, not anchored (screwed it). I'm functioning on too little sleep lately.

5.) DON'T USE GLUE IN YOUR FRAMING, ONLY SCREWS Yes. Typically only the bottom plate is glued and screwed when framing. That said, when I was growing up, my parents had a handyman who used construction adhesive and nails (he hardly ever used screws; guess that's why his prices were so good!) for EV...

It almost doubles the area at the end of the hose, therefore almost halving the speed of air coming out. Amazing that it works exponentially (150 vs 200). it might get a tiny bit drafty for a tall person singing while standing up at the back of the room. The two tallest musicians I can think of, Ti...

Greetings Jennifer,

A usual, your attention to detail is amazing, as is the documentation of your build.

Stand alone “room in a room” studio build ORANGE NSW Australia

I am unsure but it looks to me as though everything has been really well planned out except for what looks to me like both the outer and inner walls of your room in a room construction touch the C--section steel columns. That would be a flanking path and negate the isolation of the inner room. Yes,...

Greetings Jennifer,

Looks amazing (again!).

I added an extra noggin / cross beam to catch the silencer in the unlikely event it becomes detached from the stud wall.

Just the thought of this would keep me up nights.

All the best,

Paul

Greetings Starlight, I am also swayed to do it my way because my plasterboard (drywall) lift is not big enough for an almost 4 metre (13 feet) span. I'm not sure if it's available in Europe, but here in the States there are lifts that can accommodate 16-foot drywall sheets. If so, perhaps you can re...

Greeting Starlight,

Beautiful work on the cloud frame.

I know this sounds like the opening of a joke, but how many people does it take to hang the cloud? My arms and shoulders hurt just from thinking about the prospect.

All the best,

Paul

when a group comes I can see at an instant whether the CO2 level is rising or at the alarm level.

All In One Room Build - UK

Greetings Dave, Yes, I'm quite familiar with the UK climate. I have spent a considerable amount of time there: my late mother-in-law lived in London, and my life in academia took throughout the UK 2-3 times/year for conferences and research. Gareth's method is a good choice to keep the humidity unde...

Greetings Gareth,

That roof will eventually have a growing roof on it (sedum roof).

Yes, I saw your post about the green roof.
