Just looked st his website again and the Arizona fraud records and it certainly looks like the same guy. In the process I stumbled across this “independently verified test results” from Riverbank Laboratories. He sells the Absorbers as being the next generation technology which significantly improve...

New dream house with studio and workshop.
Hi Guys, As with most self builds (particularly during lockdown and the current supply chain nightmare), things have taken longer ( a LOT longer) than expected. We had to put the studio building on hold while we devoted all of our efforts to getting the house finished and moved in. We are now in the...

John Sayers: Very Sad News
That is very sad news indeed. Although I never knew him I spent many hours learning from his forum.
My thoughts and best wishes go out to all his family and friends at this difficult time.

Site-built window pair, for high isolation.
Thanks for sharing this Stuart. I am about to get my building to wind and watertight so I am going to need to put in windows soon but I still haven’t got a full design together for the internal leaf. My plan is to put in he out leaf of the window now then pause while the full design takes shape (I h...

New dream house with studio and workshop.
I hate maths  Re getting loud rock band on site - not possible yet. No real power, too mich crap on site and would probably really alienate the neighbours. I do however have a large diesel generator on site which is damn noisy particularly at low frequencies. So I can measure that in the first ...

Thanks for the customarily short and snappy response Stuart  Seriously, much appreciate the input. Newell book - point taken. It's getting a bit cold in here with the door permanently ajar though. Might need to find an alternative use other than door stop. 2586 Kevin also added the very good ad...

SketchUp Replacement???!!!
I’ve started using Fusion360 recently. It is unbelievable but has a much steeper learning curve than Sketchup.

Treatment for (slightly) odd shaped mix room
I can’t remember just now but there are designs for these either on here on on the old John Sayers site. I think fixing some Rockwool to a piece of ply was the method used but I could be wrong.

Treatment for (slightly) odd shaped mix room
2527 What would you suggest for bass trapping in the cavity? More. Just more. Like, “this insulation goes to 11” I could be wrong but my understanding is that, in your case you can’t go wrong with adding as much insulation as you can manage/afford. As it will be behind the rigid screens you s...

Treatment for (slightly) odd shaped mix room
I’m not able to view the mdat file at the moment but - is the loss of mids the same for both speakers? I would expect it to be worse in one than the other. My guess is it is a phase cancellation from the front wall reflection (probably from the speaker furthest from the front wall). If the bass is b...

2485 The triangles I drew on my sketch are 60cms accross the front, which I've read is a size many go for, but of course bigger is likely better, I'll build them as big as is recommended! Yes, the bigger the better. All waves terminate in corners hence the reason why bass traps tend to be placed in...
