Hi Keith, You weren't wrong. Drywall plies touching themselves isn't an issue, due to they are all the same leaf. Where they wouldn't touch is between inner and outer leaf. Baker rod isn't there to isolate drywall plies by themselves. It's there in order to do a "back" for caulking. Cheers...
