Prepping an Unenviable Space

Hi Everyone,

Love everything you do here. This forum has a shortcut on my homescreen so I can scroll through regularly for inspiration!

Apologies if this isn't in the right section. My question isn't about studio design as such, but rather preparing a decent envelope from an unenviable structure.

I have a 100 sqm steel shed build on a concrete slab in which I intend to build a live/rehearsal room in. The shed is not insulated at all and is dusty and cold or hot as the weather changes.

Before I get to designing and building I wanted to address the poor building envelope to help thermal qualities and dust management. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with anything like this?

My current thought is to line the inside with foilboard, carefully sealed.

Any thoughts much appreciated! Another thread regarding the studio design to follow in a few weeks.

for something like this, i would use spray foam insulation onto the skin metal, then add a layer of dense concrete type fiber board - e.g. Hardie board (https://www.jameshardie.com/ or equiv) onto the framing. this would be the baseline for thermal and first level "mass". next up would be the inner room or rooms which provide the interior mass for isolation and then your acoustics. you want to plan your HVAC and fresh air as one of the FIRST things to do and thus ensure proper temperature and fresh air needed in (what will be) a hyper insulated sealed environment.
