Your photos show the opposite, that you are paying attention and doing it very well. I know it is hard work but bravo to you for being so diligent. Well done!

Thank you so much for the kind words of support! I am at the finish line, Id say 98%. Needed to order some more fabric for the front wall of the control room, hiding all the staples has been tricky. I ripped some 1/4" strips and painted them black, then brad nailed them over the staples. Not really sure how other get such a tight tucked in look, but this works for me. As a first timer, Im not unhappy with how it turned out. If you see the little imperfections here and there I say you are looking to close and not focusing on the music enough!

Today was a big day. We installed the 5/8 and 3/8” laminated glass between the control and live rooms. I’m getting about 45dbc of isolation between the rooms without proper seals on the doors yet. You can actually pinpoint that the door bottoms which have no seal are the place that sound is coming through. It’s incredible. Definitely hit my main goals and then some.

Getting even more isolation outside the building!

It is extremely gratifying to see this all come together and work as designed.

excellent!

yeah, as things get quieter and quieter suddenly you find other places which transfer the sound or make noises - framing, shared concrete pads, ducts, electrical wiring strung tightly between isolated walls, conduits, hvac noises, etc. but on the plus side, once you're below 50-55db, your breathing, speaking, and monitoring / playing etc will mask those things.

Just wanted to take a moment to share some great news! The permits and inspections have all been closed and approved. The building is now officially done as far as the township is concerned. While I still have a lot of work to do with treatment and wiring up, this is a major milestone for me to have crossed after nearly 2 years of building. I stopped tracking cost at around $75k Its way over budget, but I am very happy with the outcome. Once all the treatment is in, the door seals have been installed, and things are wired up, Ill shoot a sizzle reel for you all.

Thank you again for all the support, knowledge sharing, and encouragement you have all generously and selflessly bestowed upon me. What a project!

Well, got the speakers out there and haven’t done a REW yet, but I will say I hear so much more detail in the music it’s wild. It’s like every frequency range is excited all at the same time. There is a tightness to the bass I’ve never had before and I can pick out everything in the mix including effects and details I’ve never heard before. It’s really wild. I’m not even fully treated yet with a cloud and still need to add another trap to the wall, but I can already tell that I’m hearing so much more.

It’s a little honky overall in the low-mid range, probably somewhere around 200hz. I’ll need to work on that but I am loving it.

Finally got a chance to get my measurements in order. The following were taken with no ceiling treatment other than the built in soffits. Front wall, some side wall, and rear corner treatments. Before I kept going with the cloud and rear wall, I wanted to take a measurement and understand if I am even going in the right direction here.... could use some help interpreting these graphs and what I can do next to make the biggest impact?

These are all taken at 90º mic position with a measurement mic from the critical listening position at ear height.

From what I can tell, and suprise surprise the math predicted, I have a problem around 125hz, then I get some weirdness between 300-500hz, beyond that it all kind of smooths out a bit. I definitely see some issues with reflection off my desk at the high end 7k+.

As a starting point, does this look "good"?

without the ceiling treatments for the dips in 70-100hz, this looks pretty decent.
